1942-1991

1942
13 February- With the order of the ASSR People’s Commissar of Internal Affairs, according to the USSR order of 4 July, 1941, the archive department was renamed into the ASSR state archive department of People’s Commissariat of Internal Affairs. 

1943
8  October – The ASSR Council of People's commissars adopted the decision of ''Organizing state central archive for films, photographs and sound-recording documents'', where it was pointed out that the new archive would be organized in Yerevan and would be under straight authority of Council of  People's Commissars of internal affairs with staff 5 units. The manager of the archive was assigned Vladimir Movsisyan.

1945
21 August – With the order of the ASSR People’s Commissar of Internal Affairs, a scientific council was created attached to the state central archive with the presidency of archives department manager K. Stepanyan.
The first scientific council consisted of S. Budunyan – manager of ACPCC propaganda and agitation sector, M. Nersisyan, acting official of the director of institute of history of the ASSR Academy of science, Prof. V. Rshtuni, head of history department of the state university, director of Matenadaran G. Abov, doctor of historical sciences A. Hovhannisyan and others.
13 September – With the ASSR People's Council Commissariat order, the ASSR state central archive of film, photograph and sound-recording documents was classified among scientific research institutions.

1947
24 September – Abraham Mkrtchyan was assigned the chief of the ASSR state central archive.

1948
8 June  – With the order of the ASSR IA minister, members of scientific council of archive department were assigned: K. Stepanyan, A. Mkrtchyan, G. Harutyunyan, V. Movsisyan, B. Lalayan (from the ACP central committee), V. Avetisyan (Armenian branch of IML), M. Nersisyan (Academy of Science), V. Rshtuni (State university), G. Abov (Matenadaran), V. Parsamyan (Armenian Pedagogical Institute), A. Tumanyan (Partial-publishing).

1950
20 April  – In the ASSR state central archive a permanent control group was created for the scientific – technical development process of documents quality check up.

1952
29 May  – With the order of  the ASSR minister of internal affairs, manor Vardges Kzartmyan was assigned the ASSR archive department manager. Nikiforova Maria Nikiforovna was relieved from her provisional post of performing manager's duties.                
   
1956
- In March the foundation of the ASSR central state archives building was laid down on Kievyan street (Now on Hr. Kochar part of the street).
23.June - CPA central committee permitted the publication of '' Scientific-informational bulletin'' periodical for the usage of state and departmental archives of the republic.
  December - The first edition of ‘‘Information bulletin'' was published.

1958
 11 February- Order of the ASSR minister of internal affairs was published, according to the ASSR ministers' council decision of 29 January, 1958, concerning the reorganization of archive department into archive board and the ASSR state central archives of October revolution and social construction and historical archive.   
21 February  – With the order of the ASSR minister of  internal affairs, Abraham Mkrtchyan was relieved from his position of chief of archive, connected with the reconstruction of state central archive.
21 February  – With the order of the ASSR minister of  internal affairs, Grigor Harutynyan was assigned chief of the ASSR historical state central archive.
6 March  – With the order of the ASSR minister of  internal affairs, Mikayel Babajanyan was assigned chief of the ASSR state central archive of October revolution and social construction.
- The newly built building of state central archives was put into operation. At first materials of film, photographs, and sound-recording documents and historical archives were transported and the materials of October Revolutionary and social construction archive. With maintenance of relative humidity of the air in the new building, light and large working offices, supplementary workshops, library, reading-hall, infection-cell, micro photo-laboratory and other conveniences, the order of archive keeping was totally changed in state central archives.
23 February  – The ASSR council of ministers affirmed the legislations of the ASSR ........ archive board, central, municipal and regional archives and the net of the ASSR state archives.

1960
19 January – With the ASSR IA minister order, chief of the ASSR film, photograph and sound-recording state central archive was assigned Leonid Kocharyan.
27 May – The ASSR ministers’ council accepted the offer of the ASSR ministry of internal affairs to organize an office of development of scientific – technical documents of institutions and organizations in the system of local productive board. An order was given to Yerevan municipal council executive committee.
July – The firs edition of ''Herald of Archives in Armenia'' was published. The announcement in the editorial ran as follows: ''Herald of Archives in Armenian'' is expected to put into circulation document materials of the history of the Armenian people, especially those concerning Soviet Armenia.
Then it informed that archive documents collections would be published in the magazine, as well as scientific articles, programs, thematic and fund reviews, etc.
1 November – With the ASSR minister of internal affairs order the SCAORSC chief was assigned Ashot Hayrapetyan.

1962
22 July – The ASSR ministers council adopted decision of reorganizing the ASSR archive board into the archive board attached to the ASSR ministers council. Archive board was ordered to develop legislations of central, municipal and regional state archives and to file it to the ASSR ministers’ council for affirmation.

1963
12 January – With the order of the ASSR Supreme council chair in Alaverdi, Artik, Ararat, Kamo, Ghapan and Hrazdan municipal archives were created. So there were 3 central, 9 municipal (Leninakan, Kirovakan, Echmiadzin) and 27 regional state archives in the republic.
21 January – With the ASSR ministers’ council decision the ASSR archive board manager was assigned Ashot Harutunyan.
3 April – Based on archive board solicitation, the CPA central committee decided to permit the archive board to publish ''Herald of Archives in Armenia'' 3 times a year with the volume of 15 signatures.
The editor of the magazine was assigned archive board manager A. Harutunyan and the members of editorial board were: A. Asryan, H. Grigoryan, A. Hayrapetyan, H. Shatinyan, G. Harutunyan, Kh. Barseghyan, G. Stepanyan and G. Galoyan.
25 May – The ASSR ministers’ council affirmed the archive board legislation. The first paragraph of the legislation stated that the archive board attached to the ASSR ministers council was a state body of state and departmental archives of the republic, implementing scientific, organizational and methodical government.
October – The administration of the ASSR state historical central archive applied to nearly 260 cultural institutions in foreign Armenian colonies with a special letter, asking to file archive documents and materials of outstanding public figures which they owned, to Armenian archives. The letter was met with approval and was published in foreign Armenian newspapers.
15 October – With the order of manager of archive board attached to the ASSR ministers council the SCAORSC chief was assigned Samvel Aleksanyan.
18 November – With the order of archive board manager A.Harutunyan, a delegation was organized (Harutunyan, A.Zakharyan, E.Zakharyan) to accept the archive of general Andranik from the ASSR supreme council chairman E.Topchyan, and to place under scientific-technical drafting, ethic was the beginning of foundation of private fund of Andranik Ozanyan.

1965
1 April – Preparatory work of supplementary floors construction of the central state archive departmental subsidiary building started by the constructional conglomerate N1 of the ASSR ministry of construction.

1966
14 December – Executive committee of Yerevan municipal council decided to put the right and left attached areas of archive building on Hr. Kochar street under the disposal of archive board, with the aim of building subsidiary blocks in the future.

1967
1 February – With the order of the ASSR ministers council a new personnel of scientific council of the archive board was assigned.
15 March – Executive committee of Yerevan municipal council decided to dispose land for the construction of the ASSR film, photograph and sound recording documents state central archive building near to the Yerevan radio mast.

1971
- In autumn the construction process of the ASSR films, photographs, sound recording documents state central archive building was terminated.

1972
22 March – Director of the SCAARSC was assigned the same archive – Ararat Sargsyan.

1973
24 June – The ASSR ministers’ council adopted decision of creating state central archive of the Armenian periodical press. It gave an opportunity to concentrate the Armenian periodical press, archive materials reflecting its history and activity, providing safety for their scientific and technical usage.
24 January – With order of manager of archive board attached to the ASSR ministers’ council, director of state central archive of the Armenian periodical press was assigned Sandro Behbutyan.
1975
24 Octobery – Based on instructions of main archive board attached to the ASSR ministers council, with the ASSR archive board order, office of scientific-technical drafting of departmental document materials was to be subordinated to the ASSR SCAARSC, since 1 January, 1976.
11 November – The ASSR ministers’ council affirmed the structure of archive board with 34 staff units. According to that structure, archive board included the following departments: 1) methodical, 2) scientific-information and wage of document materials, 3) scientific-publishing, 4) of departmental archives completion and clerical work, 5) financial-accounting, 6) economical and office service.

1977
21 December – The ASSR law of  ‘’Maintenance and usage of historical and cultural monuments’’ was published, affirmed by the 6th session of the 9th convening of the ASSR supreme council.
The law stated the ASSR archive board rights and obligations concerning documents registration and usage of documental monuments of state archive funds (SAF), in the territory of the republic. 

1978
21 March – With the consequent decision, the archive board of the ASSR ministers council was reorganized into main archive board. The decision was due to daily increasing number of archival institutions, increase of the work done by them, increase of role of partial and ideological purposefulness as well as their increasing social functions.
21 June – The new personnel of main archive board collegiums is affirmed: A.H.Harutyunyan, A.A.Darbinyan, H.G.Hovhannisyan, G.G.Harutyunyan, A.A.Sargsyan, E.G.Sargsyan, H.M.Shatiryan.

1979
5 November – With the ASSR ministers council decision state central archive of scientific-technical documents was organized.

1980
13 August – With the ASSR Supreme council chair decision ‘’The process of the ASSR law implementation of historical and cultural monuments maintenance and usage’’, the main archive board is ordered to thoroughly improve the maintenance of monuments, to take measures so as the ministries, departments, institutions are able to provide the registration and maintenance of normative acts and archive materials and hand them to state central archives.
4 November – Yerevan municipal state archive is created.

1981
5 January – With the ASSR main archive collegiums decision, in SCAORSC a department of art and literature is organized with the aim of concentrating materials concerning art and literature in the archive.
2 December – The office of scientific-technical drafting of documents is reorganized. In the SCAORSC of the ASSR a department of completing departmental archives and evolutional expert-examination is organized and in Yerevan municipal and scientific-technical documents CSAs departmental archive groups are organized. 

1983
4 November – In the small hall of Armphilharmonia a solemn meeting took place denoted to the 60th anniversary of archive keeping in the ASSR.
Administrative workers of soviet and partial bodies, delegates arrived from union and republic archives representatives of scientific and social organizations of the capital, managers of regional and municipal state archives, archive workers and others were present.
The meeting was opened by the speech of assistant director of the ASSR ministers council Yu. Khojamiryan. He warmly greeted the archive workers of the republic for the holiday, pointed out the role and meaning of archives in the past and present of our people, in their economical, cultural and spiritual life, characterized the grateful work of Armenian archive specialists during the past 60 years in the sphere of concentrating the drafting, maintaining and purposeful usage of documentary relics.

1986
21 February – The ASSR ministers council adopted the decision of ‘’State of archive keeping in the ASSR, and its further development arrangements’’.

1991
26 December – The RA government adopted the order of ''Creation of state central archive for the RA social and political organizations documents''.
