Director of National Archives of Armenia

Amatuni Virabyan
Born on August 17, 1956 village Geghanist, Shirak region, Republic of Armenian.
In 1977 graduated from the State Pedagogical Institute of Vanadzor (Kirovakan), faculty of history.
1977-1980- secretary of the LYCL committee of Kirovakan in machine-making technical school.
1980-1991- senior scientific worker in party archive of ACP (Armenian Communist Party) Central Committee Party Institute of History. 1991-2001- assistant director of central state archive of the RA social-political organizations documents.
On 16 July, 2001-assigned chief of archive keeping board under the RA government.
On 6 March, 2002, with N202 decision of the RA government, the archive keeping board under the RA government was reorganized to agency of archive keeping of the RA ministry of culture, youth problems and sport.
2002 September 25-assigned chief of archive keeping agency.
On 20 March, 2003 with N291-N decision of the RA government with the merging of the RA central state archives ‘’Armenian State Archive’’ state non-profit organization is created and on 8 August, with N999-N decision the archive keeping agency is abolished.
Since 2003 April 7, director of the RA National Archive.
Doctor of historic sciences.
Author of more than 50 scientific publications, including ‘’Armenian from Stalin to Khrushchov. Social-political life 1945-1957’’, Yerevan 2001, ‘’Grigor Harutyunyan.
