The director of the NAA A. Virabyan participated in the event of the international Council on Archive which took place in Toledo (Spain)

 On October 23-28, 2011, the director of the NAA A. Virabyan was in Spain for participating in the meeting of the International Council on Archive (ICA).     Especially were conferences of the programming committee and the executive committee of the ICA, forums of the representatives of the National Archives, the International Conference of the Round Table on Archive (CITRA), annual meeting of the members of ICA (general assembly).
    This event was attended by 350 archivists. During the meetings were discussed the current and future activities related to the organizational, financial and other legal issues of ICA.
    The forum of the representatives of the national archives was the first step of the new leaders of ICA through dialogs discus the most important question which archivists and the world national archives are confronted. Archivists from USA, Belgium, Brazil, Netherlands, and Canada represented topics about contemporary approaches to electronic information resources, and preservation of electronic documents. Performances and the subsequent active debates showed that development of the 21st century’s informational technology, as well as the process of democratic society have an influence on the profession of archivist and radical affect on the work of archive.
    The International Conference of the Round Table which took place in Toledo was the last of its kind. Henceforth, the ICA annual conferences will be held.     Corresponding changes were made in the charter of the ICA. In 2012, in Brisbane (Australia) will be held the International Conference on Archives, during what the new president and vice president of ICA will be elected.
  In 2016, Seoul (Korea) will be the place for the next international conference of ICA.
